Godet, Molly (1949 – 2017)
Bermudian Molly Godet attended noted and notorious Hornsey College of Art in London, UK where she was awarded dip AD, BA hons in graphic design. She then spent her professional life in London working for several international advertising agencies as senior art director and creative director. Her career covered all media; film, television, print, radio, posters etc. But not painting. Having negotiated early retirement she returned to Bermuda in 2005 and took up painting. She prefers to use watercolour and generally paints on location. She is a regular member of the Bermuda Plein Air group and has work in the permanent collections of both The Bermuda National Gallery and Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art, where, in 2012, she was awarded the prestigious Charman Prize. She is also proud to have had work selected for inclusion in the 2008 Barcardi Biennial exhibition at the Bermuda National Gallery. And to have had three pieces selected in 2009 for the “Bermuda As Muse” exhibition in the annual Arts Festival in Lyme Regis, Dorset. She exhibits in various local galleries, the Bermuda Arts Centre at Dockyard, Bermuda Society of Arts and Masterworks. However, latterly, recent pieces can be seen at Windjammer lll. Her work is held both in local collections and overseas.
