Ingham, Emma

Bermudian b: 1946
Over the years my art has developed and changed from fashion illustration in the retail field to fine art, with an emphasis on watercolours.

I loved working from the model and translating a garment on the hanger to a glorious gown that would turn heads. However, today there is little call in Bermuda for Fashion Illustration so I needed to ‘move with the times’.

I chose to fully explore water-based media; my objective has always been to translate the island’s vivid colours and create fresh appealing paintings.  To start with I use quality materials-St. Petersburg/Yarka pigments, top of the line acid free paper and frames that stand the test of time.

Bermuda has an active arts community, and my contributions are physical examples of what can be achieved by dedication and by ‘putting a shoulder to the wheel’.
