Since childhood Katherine Zuill has always loved to make art and be in nature. She was born in 1943 in Boston, Massachusetts and grew up in the country north of the city. Following her fine art studies at Rhode Island School of Design she married and became a mother. At this time she began her career as an interior designer and decorator. For fifty years she has decorated homes with an eye to carrying nature’s palette into the interior.
Like her father, William Kemble, who retired to Bermuda in his mid-fifties, painting became her passion. Katherine turned her focus to oil painting eighteen years ago and is developing a body of work that pays close attention to her Bermudian surroundings and other areas discovered in her travels including Ireland, Colorado and New Mexico. Following a visit to San Miguel de Allende in Mexico, she has also become excited about mixed media as well as encaustics. She paints en plein air as well as referring to photos and still life arrangements in her studio at home where she also enjoys her other art work.
